About Us

The Trust is a Leicester based grant making Charitable Trust, which is administered by a Board of Trustees and is committed to providing assistance for the relief of poverty and general charitable purposes for the benefit of residents of the City and County of Leicester.

In addition, when resources permit, the Trustees are prepared to accept applications for assistance from residents of and charitable organisations operating in the County of Rutland.

Charity Commission registration number 200789

Since 1961 over £3.29million has been distributed by the Trustees in pursuit of the objectives of the Trust.

What we do

As prescribed by the trust instrument, the primary aim of the Trustees is to apply the income of the trust fund for the purpose of the relief of poverty.  The Trustees also make grants for general charitable purposes as well as for the enrichment of lives through the support of sport and the arts.

Grants to individuals resident within the City or County of Leicester are made, as and when needs arise, through Leicester Charity Link which undertakes a detailed case review on behalf of the Trustees and, where appropriate, makes an award, within pre-determined limits, from the discretionary funds allocated for that purpose.  Where circumstances call for swift action, support can often be provided on the same day.  Requests which cannot be satisfied within these parameters are referred back to the Trust with a suitable report and recommendation which are considered and acted upon by the Trustees.

Please be aware that all applications for assistance received from individuals are, in the first instance, referred to Leciester Charity Link, consent having been obtained from the applicant by the mandatory completion of the appropriate Personal Data Consent Form.

It is regretted that the Trustees are no longer able to offer support for educational purposes.

Grants to charitable organisations operating within the City or County of Leicester are made following the consideration of applications at the twice yearly meetings of the Trustees, usually held in April and November.

Grants are not made to charitable organisations operating outside of the City and County of Leicester unless it can be clearly demonstrated that the project for which funding is being sought is designed solely to benefit the local community.

Further information, if required, can be obtained from the Secretary to the Trustees.
